The Star: Shah Alam Stadium to be fully demolished by mid-2025, says MB

PETALING JAYA: The Shah Alam Stadium is expected to be fully demolished by the middle of 2025, says Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

"This evening (Feb 6), a critical step was taken in the redevelopment of Stadium Shah Alam where I witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Selangor Mentri Besar (Incorporated) (MBI Selangor) and Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB), marking the start of physical works after thorough planning and due process.

"The demolition process will begin with the installation of hoarding, followed by the dismantling of the existing structures, which is expected to take place until mid-2025," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 6).

He added that hoarding and preparation works, which begin on Wednesday (Feb 7), would take three months, followed by demolition of the structure.

MRCB was appointed by the state government to redevelop the sports facility in Section 13, Shah Alam.

Amirudin added that all mitigation measures to address the impact of the redevelopment would be communicated by the developer to the local community.

"I have emphasised to parties involved in the redevelopment of Shah Alam Stadium that they must adhere to standards set by state and local authorities, serving as a model that employs best practices, especially for infrastructure development of such scale," he said.
