Selangor Kini: Siraj Putra Specialist Centre to be built in UPM’s Putra Medical City

PUTRAJAYA, June 10 — A specialist medical centre, Siraj Putra Specialist Centre, with a 300 bed capacity and estimated to cost RM400 million, will be built at Putra Medical City, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), in Serdang.

The private hospital’s construction, to be situated on 2.08 hectares of land, is expected to start in January next year, while the first phase of the medical centre, offering various specialities, is expected to begin operations in July 2027.

Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah launched the development project at the Le Meridien Putrajaya Hotel today.

At the event, His Royal Highness witnessed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between Sirage Medco Sdn Bhd, represented by its executive director Asrul Muniff Azizan, and YT Medical City Sdn Bhd, represented by its director Ar Azhar Zahari.

Sirage Medco Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Seri Syed Razlan Syed Putra Jamalullail said the hospital’s development was a collaboration with YT Medical City Sdn Bhd, the main developer for the entire Putra Medical City area.

The project is expected to be a catalyst and pioneer for UPM and a sustainable development model for other public universities, increasing the university’s income.

“We will see a consistent increase in income for UPM once this project is operational and further drive more sustainable development for the local community.

“Our commitment with YT Medical City Sdn Bhd as the main developer is to unlock the potential of UPM, increasing the university’s income every year with a structured and continuous approach,” he said.

Syed Razlan added that the hospital’s construction is not only about infrastructure development but also about building a continuous legacy that will be a long-term benefit for UPM even after its contract with the main developer ends.

When completed, this hospital will have 300 beds, namely 150 beds in the first phase and the rest in the second phase.

“The services of this specialist hospital will cover residents around Serdang Lama and Seri Kembangan under the Subang Jaya City Council. It will also cover residents in Putrajaya, Sepang, Kajang, and Seremban.

“Today, we laid the foundation stone not only for the specialist medical centre but for a brighter future where education and healthcare are integrated to advance the well-being of the local community, UPM, and the state of Selangor,” he said.
