Selangor Journal: Set an example, register for COVID-19 shot, MB told civil servants

PUCHONG, April 4 — The Selangor Menteri Besar has urged all head of departments in the state’s civil service to ensure that their staff have registered themselves for the Covid-19 vaccine.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the 17,000 individuals in the group should set an example to the public to build their confidence in receiving the vaccine.

“After the first phase of the immunisation plan involving frontline workers have ended, the second phase is expected to kick-off sometime this month followed by the third phase.

“We ask for the head of departments to ensure their staff under to have been registered,” he said during the launch of the Covid-19 Immunisation Expansion Programme at Dataran Puchong Permai, here today.

On Thursday, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali had reminded the civil servants to not be involved in the anti-vaccine movement.

He said those who publish, distribute statements, rumours or news regarding anti-vaccine could be penalised.

The second phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme was initially scheduled to kick-off on April 19 but was brought forward two days earlier.

Some 9.4 million recipients are targeted in the second phase, involving senior citizens, people with chronic illnesses, and persons with disabilities.
