Selangor Journal: Selangor offers multitude of welfare programmes, equitable benefit for all — MB

GOMBAK, March 31 — The Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) initiative, which offers various welfare programmes, is carried out to ensure all social segments benefit from the state’s resources.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said one such programme in which the public is consistently interested is the Jom Shopping vouchers’ distribution during every festive season.

“This programme (Jom Shopping) falls under ISP, and we organise it so that people feel appreciated and enjoy life just like everyone else.

“That is why the state government thinks of providing support to those in need. For those who need specific support, like businesses, there are also related programmes,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the distribution ceremony for the Jom Shopping vouchers to the Sungai Tua state constituency at the Sri Ternak Supermarket in Selayang today.

During the event, 600 local residents received the RM200 vouchers each in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations next month, which can be redeemed at the supermarket starting today.

Meanwhile, housewife Nur Ain Nor Hisham, 33, said she is happy to be selected for the first time as a Jom Shopping recipient, which has eased her family’s burden of expenses before Aidilfitri.

“I bought goods to bring back to my husband’s hometown in Sarawak. There, many items are more expensive compared to the Peninsula, and it really helps our family.

“Moreover, we are also practising savings now, so these vouchers indirectly help us as a family,” she said, accompanied by her husband, Jolman Johari, 40.

For kidney patient Nazri Zahari, 40, he is grateful to be able to provide daily necessities, especially tastier food, for his two children.

“I am very grateful to receive these vouchers, which I used to purchase a lot of food for my children.

“I am no longer working, so these vouchers mean a lot to us as a family,” he said, adding that he plans to return to his hometown in Yan, Kedah, to celebrate Aidilfitri.
