Selangor Journal: Nearly 110,000 people benefit from RM25 mln of Kita Selangor package

SHAH ALAM, March 3 — A total of 108,545 people have benefitted from the RM24.73 million spent by the state government from the Kita Selangor Package, says Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Amirudin Shari today.

He said six out of 20 initiatives under the package have been carried out by the state government as of today.

“These include food assistance to frontliners in hospitals which totalled to RM1.4 million, followed by the #KitaSelangor flood assistance to affected states, the Yayasan Selangor study loan write-off, the operations of the Smart Selangor Operations Centre (SSOC) and the Smart Selangor Centre of Excellence (CoE2).

“It also included deferment of rental for three months for the smart rental scheme participants, as well as the exemption and deferment of rental for tenants of the People’s Housing Project (PPR) and Council Homes,” he said.

Amirudin said this to reporters after visiting the Smart Selangor Operations Centre (SSOC) at the Dewan Jubli Perak at the Selangor State Secretariat Building, here today.

He said the remaining 14 initiatives, which include Covid-19 community screenings, transportation assistance for low-risk Covid-19 patients, food basket distribution, e-kitchen programme, Niaga Darul Ehsan (NaDI) scheme as well as other programmes are still being executed by the relevant agencies.

“There are still ongoing expenses such as the allocation to all the (community) service centres. Based on the latest information we obtained (from the SSOC system), a total of 63,000 food baskets have already been distributed to the people by our state assemblymen in their respective constituencies.

“Meanwhile, there are also ongoing programmes including the NaDI scheme that started just two weeks ago which we are certain the number of participants will continue growing and we will update from time to time,” he said.

Amirudin added that the distribution of food baskets to PPR tenants, taxi and bus drivers will be carried out this month.

On January 20, the Selangor government announced the Kita Selangor Package which came to a total of RM75.877 million in overall value and covered 20 initiatives dedicated to easing the burden of affected groups in Selangor during the MCO 2.0 period.
