Selangor Journal: MB confident three state seats in Selayang can be defended
GOMBAK, May 21 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari believes the three state constituencies under the Selayang parliamentary seat can be defended in the upcoming state election.
He said this was validated by the presence of so many local residents who show their support by attending the ceremony organised by the parliamentary seat.
“Similar to last year when I went to Selayang and the Taman Templer state constituency, I witnessed numerous people in attendance.
“This is indicative of the support and confidence we can still garner, in defending the state seats located at Selayang,” Amirudin said.
He was speaking at Selayang and Taman Templer’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at Dataran Ilmu Bandar Baru Selayang yesterday evening.
Also in attendance were Selayang MP William Leong and Taman Templer state assemblyman Mohd Sany Hamzan.
Asides from Taman Templer, the other two constituencies include Rawang and Kuang.
The Menteri Besar also expressed his hopes the good, lively atmosphere among Selangor’s multi-racial community and in the Selayang/Taman Templer area can be sustained.
“From 2008 until the present, the state administration and leadership have always tried to ensure that Selangor continues to progress and that its people can enjoy progress despite having to overcome various challenges like the Covid-19 pandemic, its economic effects, major floods, and also differences with the Federal government until recently.
“This government can survive, and in fact, we are able to implement and provide new methods in protecting the people like Skim Insurans Am Selangor (Insan), which has also been improved according to the takaful system,” he said.
The Gombak MP also welcome the arrival of outside observers for the state election.
“Yet those who seek to sow division, stir discord, and fan the flames of racism, we tell them to turn back as we believe the people of Selangor will reject it and are ready to maintain the existing consensus and unity,” Amirudin said.
