NST: Free rides on the Kelana Jaya LRT line for a week
KUALA LUMPUR: Commuters on the Kelana Jaya LRT Line will enjoy free rides for a week beginning tomorrow following its reopening.
Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, the operator of the LRT, MRT and Monorail services, had previously announced that commuters on the line would be given free rides for every day that the Kelana Jaya service was disrupted.
"The service was suspended for five days but commuters will be provided with free fares for seven days," the company said in a statement.
Rapid Rail said users of the My50 cards will receive fares for seven extra days upon renewal of the cards which can be done between Nov 21 and Dec 20.
"My50 users whose cards expire between Nov 14 and 20 can still use the card without charge but they must ensure that the cards have a minimum balance of RM5. Touch'N'Go card users on the Kelana Jaya line can use the card as usual without charge during the period provided that the destination begins and ends at any of the stations on the line.
"Other commuters of the Kelana Jaya line can enjoy the free fare by getting special one-way tokens at the customer service offices provided that the destination begins and ends at any of the stations on the line," the company said.
