Selangor Kini: Selangor short of supply, not vaccination capacity or centres — Exco

SHAH ALAM, June 28 — Selangor is facing a supply shortage of Covid-19 doses and not vaccination capacity or vaccination centres (PPV), says Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

In a statement today, the state executive councillor for public health said with a total of 73 PPVs have been set up across the state, Selangor is able to administer some 87,616 shots daily.

“However, the current supply available can only provide for 53,037 jabs per day,” she said.

Following several complaints made against the shortage of vaccine supply to the state, Dr Siti Mariah said the Selangor State Health Department (JKNS) is scheduled to receive another 60,000 doses of vaccines today.

She said JKNS had received a total of 1,189,350 doses of vaccines as of June 27. The total doses that have been administered stand at 954,051.

She said the remaining doses in stock is only about 20 per cent or 235,277 doses.

“The supply will only last for two days should the PPVs be running their operations at full capacity.

“When combined with the Selangor Covid-19 Vaccination Programme (SCVP), we would be able to achieve the target set by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) of 135,000 and 165,000 daily vaccination rate in July and August, respectively,” she added.

Yesterday, Dr Siti Mariah in a series of Tweets stated that Selangor may be forced to temporarily shut down some of its PPVs unless the state receives a sufficient supply of Covid-19 vaccine.

This was in response to the statement made by the Minister in charge of the National Covid-19 Immunisation programme (PICK), Khairy Jamaluddin, who claimed that the issue in Selangor is due to the vaccination capacity as the Federal administration had increased the vaccine supply to Selangor by more than 20 per cent of the total supply in June and July.
