Selangor Journal: SIBS 2023 aims to achieve RM1.5 bln of potential negotiated sales, 50,000 visitors — Exco

SHAH ALAM, March 27 — The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2023 is set to see RM1.5 billion of potential negotiated sales in its seventh edition, which will be held from October 19 to 22.

State executive councillor for investment, industry and trade Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said that the international expo anticipates the participation of 1,050 booths and 50,000 trade visitors.

Themed “Selangor Gateway to Asean”, the summit will be taking up the entire eighth expo halls and two conference halls at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

“SIBS 2023 will continue its role as the regional premier summit for local and international industry players to convene and explore the great potential of the Malaysian and regional markets.

“Last year, we recorded 44,342 (participants), so (this year we are targeting) an increase of about 10 per cent or, which is reasonable. As for international participants, we had 60 countries participating and this year we are looking at 70.

“Invest Selangor will once again lead the organising committee of this four-day summit, which will be held on the 19th to 22nd of October 2023 and will feature a total of six unique concurrent events,” said Teng at the media launch of the SIBS 2023 at Sheraton Hotel Petaling Jaya, today.

The six components that will be held concurrently at the summit include the ninth Selangor International Expo (F&B), the ninth Selangor International Expo (Medic), the third Selangor Industrial Park Expo (SPARK 2023), the seventh Selangor Asean Business Conference (SABC 2023), eighth Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC 2023) and the fourth Selangor R&D And Innovation Expo (SRIE 2023).

Teng said the summit will also feature three other parallel events, namely the Selangor International Culinary Festival (SICF), the Selangor International Healthcare Conference (SIHC), and the Selangor International Business Summit Invitational Golf Tournament 2023 on October 21.

He said in the previous summit, SPARK was the highest contributor to the RM1.45 billion in potential business transactions, followed by the F&B and Medic international expos and SDEC.

Meanwhile, Teng had urged exhibitors to register before March 31 to enjoy up to 30 per cent early bird discounts by contacting the secretariat at Invest Selangor.

“Rates for standard shell scheme booth start from as low as RM8,800 but we are offering special rates for Malaysian Registered Companies at RM6,6000 and early birds at RM6,160.

“SIBS is a great platform for businesses to showcase their brand and services to a diverse audience from various industries and countries.

“By participating in SIBS, we hope you get the exposure you need potentially attract new clients, which will ultimately lead to business growth,” he said.

Last year, the SIBS 2022, which ran from October 6 to 9 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, recorded some RM1.45 billion in potential business transactions.

The event saw a total of 906 exhibition booths from 623 companies and had the participation of 60 countries made up of exhibitors, international buyers, conference speakers, seminar participants, and visitors.
