Selangor Journal: Selangor air show returns in September, aims RM2 bln potential investments - Exco

SHAH ALAM, March 21 — The Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) 2023 is scheduled to run from September 7 to 9 with a targetted RM2 billion in potential investments.

State executive councillor for investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said that the third edition of the air show at the Skypark Regional Aviation Center (Skypark RAC), which will span over two exhibition halls and three forum rooms, aims to see a crowd of 12,000 visitors and 50 exhibitors representing the world’s best aerospace and aviation industries.

“The exhibition is set to discover industry players and become a platform to expand the country’s aviation sector. Over 67 per cent of the overall aerospace ecosystem in Malaysia is located and operates in Selangor.

“Various segments are featured at the event such as aircraft exhibitions, local and international exhibitors showcasing the latest products and services in the general and business aviation segment, sports and recreational aircraft, helicopter and drones,” he said at a press conference on the SAS 2023, here today.

Themed “The One and Only Business and General Aviation Show in the Region”, the air show aims to see the participation of more industry players with 40 aircraft of various types displayed on the tarmac or in the exhibition booth at the venue.

“We are expecting more industry players to participate in this year’s event. Many companies have already expressed their plan to join, but registrations are not yet open.

“We also invite government agencies such as the army to showcase some of their assets that are suited to the programme. We are anticipating 40 aircraft to be on display,” he said.

Since 2021, the state aviation show hosted by the Selangor government and organised by Invest Selangor Bhd has been a networking event for the aerospace industry players, particularly for the business and general aviation sectors, to re-energize their business in the region.

The state administration had set for Selangor to become a major player in the global aerospace industry by 2030 through the Selangor Aerospace Action Plan executed by the Selangor Darul Ehsan Aerospace Industry Coordination Office (S-Daico).

SAS 2022, which was held from September 8 to 10 last year, soared beyond expectations with a total crowd of 10,563, surpassing the initial target of 8,000, and successfully recording RM1.174 billion in potential transaction value while SAS 2021 recorded 3,875 visitors and RM100 million.

Those interested in participating in SAS 2023 may contact the secretariat at Invest Selangor before 31 May to enjoy a 5 per cent early bird discount. Returning participating exhibitors may also enjoy a 10 per cent discount for their participation.
