MIDA Flagship Investment Seminar
From the Selangor Tech sphere Summit 2025, I continued the day at the Flagship Investment Seminar: The Industrial Cluster Development Initiative in the Central Region, themed “Central Region: Innovating Industries, Connecting Markets.”
Organised by MIDA together with the Department of Federal Territories and the State Governments of Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka, the seminar at Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur gathered over 800 industry leaders, agencies, and investors to strengthen supply chains and help local companies grow alongside multinational corporations.
Selangor represented by Invest Selangor, also set up a booth to connect with potential investors and showcase the state’s growing industrial ecosystem.
During the event, the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry emphasised that this initiative builds on the Central Region’s strong infrastructure, skilled talent, and established industries — connecting suppliers, skilled workers, and innovation hubs to accelerate investment and industrial growth.
Selangor continues to take the lead in regional collaboration, building stronger business ecosystems and supporting sustainable growth for both companies and the rakyat.
I also had the opportunity to join a Fireside Chat Session titled “Collaborating for Impact: Central Region as the Hub of Growth and Opportunities”, together with the Chief Ministers of Melaka and Negeri Sembilan, and the Ministry in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), moderated by the Deputy Minister of MITI.
In our discussion, we explored the idea of developing the Central Region into a “Kuala Lumpur Metropolis”, uniting Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and the Federal Territories as one integrated economic area. Together, these states already contribute nearly 48% of Malaysia’s GDP, and through collaboration, we can move faster, grow stronger, and open more opportunities for all.
Selangor’s strong industrial capacity, skilled workforce, and advanced infrastructure form a solid foundation for this vision. By connecting our manufacturers and strengthening inter-state partnerships, we aim to offer investors a complete, future-ready ecosystem that drives shared prosperity across the region.
