Bernama: 2021 JomSelangor Virtual Challenge offers 5,000 medals

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 17 -- The Selangor Youth and Sports Department has taken the initiative to organise ‘JomSelangor Virtual Challenge 2021’ from March 14 to April 14.

The department, in a statement today, said the event, organised in collaboration with Jom Run, involved 5km and 21km runs, while cycling involved 5km and 30km distances, which would be held virtually.

Fans of running and cycling activities from all over the country can participate in the event free of charge, and the first 5,000 participants will receive medals.

Meanwhile, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, said that if the event receives an encouraging response, other similar events will be organised in the future, in collaboration with the private sector and other state youth and sports departments.

“Following the COVID-19 pandemic, all mass events will be online due to implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO), which imposes many limitations that we have to abide by.

“We do individual events with mass participation,” he said during the launch of the event at Menara KBS in Putrajaya today.
