Last night, I had the honour of delivering the welcoming remarks at the Gala Dinner in conjunction with the 34th ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council and Related Meetings, held here in Selangor.
The strong presence of delegates from across Malaysia and Southeast Asia reflects Selangor’s spirit as a diverse, inclusive, and forward-looking state, one that mirrors ASEAN’s enduring values of unity in diversity, mutual respect, and shared heritage.
From the rhythms of Ronggeng Selangor to the sacred steps of the Mah Meri dance, we celebrate not just culture, but connection, an enduring reminder that ASEAN thrives through unity in diversity.
As the Gateway to ASEAN, Selangor reaffirms its commitment to collective growth, sustainable development, and regional solidarity. Through cultural appreciation and shared aspirations, we strengthen our resolve to build a people-centred, resilient, and prosperous ASEAN.
May this gathering continue to inspire deeper cooperation, mutual understanding, and lasting friendship across Southeast Asia.
