10th Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC)
I had the honour of officiating the 10th Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC), a key milestone in our ongoing digital transformation journey since 2016.
This year’s theme, “AI x Semiconductor: Blitzscaling Malaysia’s Deep Tech,” highlights Selangor’s ambition to lead the region in AI, chip design, and emerging technologies.
Among the global thought leaders present were Jim Keller (Tenstorrent), Prof. Jack Sun (ex-CTO of TSMC), and June Paik, the visionary founder of a top South Korean AI start-up who famously declined Meta’s USD800 million acquisition bid to stay independent and build globally.
Some highlights:
• IC Design Park, Cyberjaya – 14 partners, 170 engineers, with expansion next month.
• ASEM College with IIT Madras – shaping future chip engineers.
• 500+ jobs offered via Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day.
• SIDEC empowered 320+ startups, 50% successfully funded.
